tournament of champions

 little sister and her fusion teammates decided to enter the tournament of champions this weekend.  it started out as one game friday night, two saturday, and one sunday morning.  as the tourney weekend got closer, the schedule changed to no friday game, 3 on saturday, and only sunday if you made the playoff bracket.

saturday at 8:00am, we drove about 20 minutes to game 1. it was in the 30s with frost on the ground, brrr!  fusion easily pulled out a 5-1 win over the hot shots.at 11:30am, it had warmed up some and the sun came out.  the girls won 6-0 over the hip hop princesses.

  for game 3 at 3:00pm, little sister had to go work a uil competition for band, so she could not play, but her team won yet again, 4-0 over the lady defeeters.

this meant they had made it to the finals round, which began with an 8:00am game on sunday.  again - super cold, plus now cloudy, sprinkly and windy!  the fusion girls won 4-1 over mayhem - which meant they had advanced to the championship game at 2:00pm. 

the championship game was against shamrock united, a team they had played twice earlier in the fall season with losses both times.  so i knew they were in for a tough game.  

shamrock united took an early 2 goal lead, earning both goals as a result of questionable calls against us by the ref near our goal.  then they scored again and we were down 0-3.  right before halftime, we finally got a goal to make the score 1-3.  after halftime, the fusion girls came out with a fire lit beneath them.  they -were able to score 1, then 2, then 3 goals to take the lead by one!  somehow, we were able to hold onto the lead, and the fusion girls took the championship game with a final score of 4-3!  it was unbelievable how they came back after such an overwhelming deficit.
