happy thanksgiving!

movie date

in an effort to avoid sending the girls to daycare and paying full tuition for only 2.5 days of use, the girls went to work with me today and tried to quietly entertain themselves. 

thankfully, we only had to do that for the morning.  grandpa took pity on us and treated us to lunch, then took the girls to see a movie while mommy finished up her workday.  nothing like a trip to the mall to kill a few hours!  the girls even sweet-talked grandpa into buying them a few new friends from the disney store.  thanks, grandpa!

 

feast day

i was sad to realize that little sister was the only one who had a thanksgiving feast at school this year - apparently third grade is the last year for that.  sorry, big sister!

so on the bright side, i did not have to split my time between the girls' classrooms.  i could enjoy the whole second grade feast without running back and forth.  it was kinda a madhouse, just as any good party should be! ;-)

soccer star

4th grade field trip

today the 4th grade enjoyed a field trip to the frisco heritage museum and sci-tech discovery center, in downtown frisco.  it was a quick 30-minute bus ride to fun!  we enjoyed a picnic lunch between places, with beautiful fall-like weather.

  big sister walked away with a cool science souvenier - a hand boiler.  when you hold the device in your hand, the colored liquid inside of it appears to boil.  she thought that was just the coolest thing ever!

fall cheer extravaganza

big sister's big finale cheer event was tonight - cheer extravaganza!  they have been practicing two new cheers & a dance for the last few weeks, since their last game on 10/19.   all of the squads had their own routines with music and dances, but ours was the best by far!

too bad big sister was way in the back row, but if you looked closely you could see her.  she was so proud to be a cheerleader and did quite well learning everything.

last soccer game

this morning we had little sister's last soccer game for the fall season.  she was quite tired, after having spent the night at a friend's house, but she powered through - she played all but the 3rd quarter and scored TWO goals, propelling her team to victory 4-2.  the field was slick and muddy, which seemed to slow everyone down.  she really has enjoyed playing this season and is excited to sign up to play again in the spring.  way to go, **sparkles***!!!

trick or treat?

most nights this time of year, it gets dark too soon - but last night, the darkness could not come soon enough!  we had a leopard and a pirate that were eager to get some candy. 

after the hour and a half it took to walk our neighborhood, the girls were tired and thirsty.  after a quick sorting of the loot, it was time for bed.  it puts a new meaning to the phrase "sweet dreams..."  happy halloween, everyone!!
