choir field trip

big sister was so pleased to have a field trip today with her choir buddies.  they had a 10am performance, and then were free to play the rest of the time in the arcade and eat pizza at amazing jake's.  with only 6 weeks of school remaining, there are many special events and field trips coming up, so stay tuned!

undefeated

the **sparkles*** finished their season today, undefeated!  with a personal best of 13 goals this season, we are super proud of little sister and the player she has become.  she might even get to play indoor soccer this summer if enough girls show an interest.

easter weekend

3-day weekend = road trip to san antonio

on the drive down on friday, we saw lots and lots of roadside bluebonnets.  [our usual spot in plano is not blooming this year :-( ]  so, while daddy was driving, i searched online for a prime spot to stop and take a few photos.  we were led to a field just a few turns off of the highway in temple.  big sister was even able to make friends with a ladybug, and make a wish before it flew away.

saturday was spent mostly at aunt gina's - hunting eggs, decorating the bunny cake, and eating homemade pizza. (yum!)  there was also time for scooter-riding, swimming and hanging out.

sunday, the girls woke up early [as usual] to see if the easter bunny had come. 

and yes he had.

  then they had a little more play time before we headed home.  we got back in time to go to 5pm mass, which was pleasantly much less crowded than the morning masses were.  maybe late afternoon mass needs to become a new tradition.

with a little over a month to go before little sister's first holy communion, we are slowly but surely getting prepared.  she got a new dress, because big sister's from two years ago was a tad too snug on her.  she is going to wear the same veil and gloves, and i was able to repurpose the flower pin from big sister's dress onto hers.  i also finally found my cross earrings that i received as a gift from my parents on my first holy communion, so i am happy that little sister will be able to wear them.

yet today, after making plans the day before to take communion photos, i was unhappy to wake up to a rainy forecast.  when the skies cleared and the sun emerged in the late afternoon, we quickly got the girls dressed up and over to the park for photos.  the wind was crazy, but i managed to get some really great photos of these photogenic subjects.  i'd say with these photos alone, the $99 nikon digital camera i got on black friday has paid for itself.

a day that started with donuts, ended with a blue vanilla cupcake, and was spent playing at the office sounds pretty great to me.  welcome to your forties!  (i'll be there soon...)
