on friday, the girls dressed up in halloween costumes for spirit day. big sister decided to be veronica from the 1988 movie heathers, and little sister chose to be an alien.
on sunday, big sister hung out with us, watching beetlejuice and passing out candy - we only had about 7-8 doorbell rings so not many kids make it to our end of the neighborhood.

the last marching contest of the season took place today 40 miles away. the day began for the girls at 6am (!) with rehearsal before loading the buses to head to the venue. daddy and i met them there around 10am and helped the band prepare for warm up.
their preliminaries round performance was at 11:45am, and they looked and sounded fantastic!
i took roughly 700 pics during warmup and the performance, and have made a lot of progress growing my photography skills & confidence this season. it really is a fun hobby with such dynamic subject matter to capture.
the top 10 finalists were announced around 6pm, and sadly we did not make it, so it was time to head home. the band ended up placing 22 out of 28. we are so proud of both girls for their amazing hard work this season and will always cherish these memories.
big sister does it all in this video she created as part of her film class. she has been working hard on it for a few weeks. from selecting the wardrobe to staying afterschool to film to editing the film.....we are so proud of her and enjoyed seeing the end product.

a thursday night game 20 miles away made for a late night on a school night, but the girls had fun despite the 30+ mph wind gusts and it finally feels like fall!
i held little sister's jacket while she was unloading, so when she came to sit in the stands and got her jacket from me, i made her pose for a quick pic.
i caught big sister right as they were about to head to the field during the second quarter.
once again, i helped on the field with pit crew and got my "better-than-front-row" view of all the halftime action.
the team suffered another loss, 45-21, dropping their record to 5-4.
with the deadline quickly approaching to submit senior recognition ads for the school yearbook, i convinced big sister to indulge me and pose for some senior pictures. we went to a popular outdoor spot with nice backgrounds and i ended up with some terrific shots. i have been waiting for nicer weather (less humid and sticky) and today was finally perfect. i don't know how i can possibly pick a favorite!
