bluebonnets

we saw lots of bluebonnets & other wildflowers on the side of the highway on our way back home today, but nothing really spectacular.  so we checked one of our two usual local spots after we got home, but they were pretty thin there too.  but, the girls sure did take a cute picture anyway!!

hoppy easter!!

since the girls had a 3-day weekend from school, we decided to take advantage & drove down to san antonio for easter.  the cousins had fun playing, hunting eggs, and making the traditional bunny cake with grandma pat.

spring break 2016

even though it rained most of the week, the girls had lots of fun indoors with grandma pat.  they baked & decorated a cake (easter-basket shaped).

they went to the mall for lunch and a movie (zootopia).

they had a fashion show with all the new clothes that grandma bought them.

 

needless to say, after 2 weeks of being spoiled by grandma, AND losing an hour thanks to daylight-savings, going back to school tomorrow will be traumatic..

back on the fields

little sister had her 2nd game of the spring soccer season today.  they lost last weekend, but tied today 2-2.  they are playing in the hardest division in their age bracket, so they will have to work very hard this season if they want to come out on top.  it's awesome to see the players grow with each season.  this is a pretty cool group of girls (and parents) and we are happy to be part of this soccer family.

mini vacation

daddy and i escaped to playa del carmen for a few days, courtesy of his work.  it was nice to get away.

  

and thanks to my mom for watching the girls.  i think it's a toss up as to who had a better time!

living museum

little sister participated in a "living museum" showcase at her school - as part of her social studies project on historical figure sam houston.  she made her presentation in class, then spoke to parents and other students about her topic in the library.  she was excited to dress up like her subject along with all her friends.

also on display was some of little sister's artwork.  this is a self portrait of her blowing out her 9th birthday cake.  they were studying seurat & pointillism. or as she calls him - "seurat the dot."  she was actually selected by her art teacher to present this piece at a school board meeting last week, so she is really making the rounds for her outstanding work & effort.
