cRaZy HaIr DaY

this week is red ribbon week - which is all about saying no to drugs.  today is "crazy hair day."  little sister had about 9 small pigtails all over her head (very cRaZy!) and big sister had two french braids that met in a rubber-band-wrapped ponytail (super cRaZy!).

**sparkles*** vs. unicorns

little sister scored 1 goal at today's game, helping her team triumph over the unicorns, 5-2.  she sat out for the 3rd quarter, but played forward for the other three quarters.

pumpkins on the prairie

what a gorgeous day, although a tad windy, for pumpkin patching!  we enjoyed our annual visit to the same patch, and we were not disappointed.  there was a hay maze, a hayride, pumpkins & gords of all shapes & sizes, face painting, and 2 bounce houses.  it took a little bit of coaxing, but i finally got both girls to cooperate and smile for some cute photos.

we started out today by making some mini caramel apples.

then the girls decided to wash off the paint from the pumpkin they painted yesterday so we could carve them.  only after we started did i realize that is it rather difficult to carve a 6-8" pumpkin!  but we persevered and now have 2 new jack-o-lantern friends.

fun & games

up first today was a visit to a local school's fall carnival.  we were surprised by how chilly it was, but we were happy to drag out our winter clothes.  the girls enjoyed carnival games, pumpkin painting, and a hayride.

then we went to big sister's last cheer game. 

and last but not least, we cheered on little sister at her soccer game.  it was a long day, but with sunny weather in the high 60's, who can complain?

rainy holiday

no school today (unless you're a teacher!) - so we 3 girls hung out around the house, ran a few errands in the rain, ate lunch out, and then settled back in at home for a few crafts.  we assembled foam christmas ornaments (bought on clearance last year) and then tried our hand at making some ghostly decor for the front yard.  

snacktime came soon after, so we popped some corn and snuggled up to a movie.  why can't more days be like this??

FC dallas fun

daddy & little sister enjoyed a night out at the FC dallas game.  she got free tickets through her rec soccer league.  of course, little sister's favorite things were the refreshments - bottomless popcorn and soda!

last away game

today was big sister's last away cheer game...and the weather was back to its hot, humid self.  as a fan in the stands, i was miserable - mostly since the timekeeper kept stopping the clock.  i don't know much about football, but i'm pretty sure there is no reason that this game should have taken 2 hours!  but i suppose all that matters is that the girls had fun. ;-)

cheer portraits

big sister took individual cheer portraits a few weeks back, and we got them from the coach today.  they turned out super cute!  the way they did them was quick and easy.  they just took individual photos of all the girls, and then photoshopped them all into one big group photo of the whole squad. 

 they even made an all-squad photo with everyone that signed up for cheer this season.  now that is a lot of girls!!

HOCO 2013

big sister got to experience her first taste of homecoming today - TEXAS STYLE!  it included riding in a parade to the football stadium for a pep rally, and the all-important homecoming MUM.  i can honestly say that i myself never had a mum, neither in high school nor at the ripe old age of 9, but the rest of the squad was getting them, so i figured she might as well join in!  she really seemed unphased by all of the hoopla, but did enjoy a monday night of no homework and hanging with her friends.  and with the temps in the mid 70's, i did not mind spending a few hours outdoors watching it all.

what a beautiful night for an evening game!  the sun was setting behind me as i watched little sister play another evening game tonight.  she was so full of speed and enthusiasm - and i can only believe it was the great weather that made this possible.  she scored 2 goals this game, and is easily one of the better ball-handlers on her team.  it is fun to see how much she improves with each season.
