action-packed saturday

8:30am - little sister's soccer pics, individual + team

10:00am - kicks v bullets

finally!  little sister got to play soccer again!  she played the whole first half, during which she made the first 2 goals for her team.  she sat out the 3rd quarter, and made another goal in the last quarter.  she was pretty tired by the end.

1:00pm - jaguars v spirit

big sister played middle fielder for the 2nd quarter and goalie during the 4th.  now that they are back on the outdoor field, the girls have to do a lot more running and get tired faster.  it was a closely matched game, but the jags ended up with the win - 6-2.

 

little sister had enough soccer and begged for some time on the nearby playground instead, and i was happy to oblige. 

 

first day of spring

it's raining, it's pouring,

the old man is snoring...



there was lightning, thunder, and rain all last night - but we're not complaining!  it will just make the spring flowers we've seen popping up lately happy.  i've been waiting for a nice sunny day to go visit the bluebonnet fields...perhaps this weekend...

big sister's soccer practice was rained out last night, and i think the fields might be too soggy still for little sister's game tonight, but it has not been cancelled yet.  this will be the 5th game scheduled but only the 2nd for little sister to play in.  (1st was rained out, 2nd she played and scored 2 goals, 3rd she had pink eye, 4th was the rescheduled 1st game but we were in SA, and the 5th is set for tonight)

the tears started flowing last night - just as i suspected they would.  big sister usually gets very emotional after such visits with her cousin.  this visit was especially long, so it may take a few days to get her back to her old self.  and this week will be busy for us all - both girls have a weeknight soccer game in addition to the saturday games & regular practice.  so here's to wishing for many happy distractions at school today, and reminders that life here is not as bad as it seems.  :-)

between the shopping & rainy weather, there was lots of indoor time:

when all else fails, this is one activity all can agree on.

today is the road trip to san antonio.  i'm thinking the handheld games will come into play again today.  can't wait to hear about all the adventures they get into between now and friday when daddy and i drive down to join them.

and here are the results of the spring portrait day a few weeks back.  big sister finally smiled naturally!  and little sister looks pretty darn cute, too.  they each picked out their main backdrop on the order form.  (i wanted the seashore scene but got overruled somehow...)  i think they turned out great.

finally!  little sister had her very first soccer game today.  they lost 5-3, but she made 2 goals!  it was very fun to watch both teams learning while they were playing and heavily relying on the coaches and fans to get directions on what to do next.  the referee was very patient with the girls, tied lots of shoelaces, and basically just kept repeating himself until it registered with any of the players.  i can't imagine a younger age even getting the concept of how to play.  if nothing else, here's to an entertaining spring!

zoo day

today was the kindergarten field trip to the zoo.  between the hour bus ride there and hour bus ride back, we saw lots of animals, ran around with friends, and totally enjoyed the sunny weather in the high 70s.  this is the same trip that big sister took when she was in kindergarten, so now i've been there twice.
