soccer fun fest

this morning, bright & early, from 8:30-10:30am - we were at little sister's end of season soccer party at denton waterworks park.  the water was a bit too cold for my liking, but all the kids seemed to have fun, and that was the whole point.  i enjoyed the overcast skies and pleasant mid-70's temperature.  this really was a fun season.

musical debut

little sister made her stage debut last night at the school talent show.  she is so much braver than i ever was at this age (and braver than i am today, for sure!)  we are so proud!

she performed 10th out of 27 acts, so it was a long show.  i think daddy and i were more nervous about it than she was.

the teacher finale act was hilarious, as always.  the big cutout faces were of teachers NOT performing, so it was pretty funny.  notice the one male teacher, which happens to be little sister's teacher.  too funny!!

first holy communion

today we celebrated little sister's first holy communion.  she looked so precious in her white dress and the same veil that big sister wore to her first communion and that i wore to my wedding.

we had lunch at our house afterwards for all the friends and family that were able to attend.  it was a long day but truly memorable.

field day #2

today was field day for big sister.  4th and 5th grades went to a local park with baseball fields and had a kickball tournament.  big sister's class was the winning 4th grade class and got to play in the championship game against the 5th grade finalists.  they lost, but had lots of fun anyway!  the most tiring part, i think, was the walk to & from the park - almost 2 miles round trip!  the first thing she said when i picked her up from school was "i'm exhausted!!"

mom's day

after a lovely lunch out with family, we headed to the fields at my work to snap some photos among the blooming wildflowers.  i drive by them every day and wanted to catch them before they fade away!

 

then once we got home, i let the girls cut some of our lilies and bring them inside for all to enjoy.

field day

little sister's field day was today, but big sister's is not until next week.  this is the 1st year that both girls do not have field day on the same day - they separate 4th-5th grade onto their own day.  i was not able to attend, but i was able to persuade a few teacher friends to snap some photos of little sister so i would not miss ALL the fun. ;-)

here, piggy piggy....

with the help of some leftover piggy banks from work, we made a fun gift for 6 of big sister's and 3 of little sister's teachers.  i made stickers with the school's Z logo on them to dress them up, filled the banks with smarties, and attached a note that the girls' signed.

talent show bound

little sister learned today that she will be performing in the school talent show on may 20.  so, i expect the song "in summer" to be stuck in my head for the next 15 days.  we are so proud of how brave she is!

teacher appreciation week - monday

this week, we give thanks to our teachers for all that they do.  the school sent home a list of themes for each day:

monday - cards & letters

tuesday - flowers

wednesday - treats & drinks

thursday - school supplies

friday - pampering item

  so i got busy last week, brainstorming ideas for each day.

for monday, i used the girls' school portraits to design a custom "thank you" card.  on snapfish, i was able to design the card and print it at home.  big sister has 6 teachers and little sister chose 3 to honor.  for their main classroom teachers, i also included a pack of gum (flavor chosen by the girls) with a cute note tag (courtesy madetobeamomma.com).

lilies in bloom

the lilies have finally bloomed in our front yard.  we have been patiently waiting since the beginning of april.  so lovely...



2nd grade field trip

little sister had her class field trip today to legoland in grapevine.  all the kids had a blast running around the place for 2 hours.  we had lunch at the mall's foodcourt, then headed back to school.  i am so lucky to be able to take days off of work to spend with the girls like this.
