spring beginner concert

little sister had her beginner band spring concert & awards tonight.  she earned 3rd place (bronze) in her instrument's "scale olympics" - meaning she was the 3rd best to master the 8 scales on xylophone.

then they played 3 songs.  she played snare drum on the first: stand by me

then she played bass drum on the next: creepy crawlies

lastly, she played xylophone on imperium

fusion wins 6-2!

movie night

crazy soccer monkeys team bonding at the movies....miracle season was the perfect movie for the girls to see together...except for all the sadness and crying!

trading spaces inspiration

one of my favorite shows <trading spaces on tlc> has been rebooted - and i am enjoying watching both new and old episodes.  the girls watched with me recently, and then started begging me to paint their room...like they did on the show.  2 gallons of paint and roughly 2 hours of labor yielded a pretty cool ombre wall....



triple header (again)

9:00am: fusion v tornados

with a thunderstorm approaching, we thankfully completed this early-morning game with a victory 2-0.  we've had several rained out games so the last thing we needed was another game to make up...

1:00pm: csm v kill squad

monkeys lost in 2 sets, but they did okay considering they are 2 years younger than the girls they were playing.  little sister even got to play some and had fun.  it's nice to see her cheer on her teammates even when sitting on the bench, waiting to be subbed in.

2:00pm: csm v served hot

monkeys lost the first game, but came back to win the 2nd game (25-19), and then they easily won the 3rd game (15-5) to win the match. 



field trip

beginner band took a trip to the sandy lake music festival today, and i volunteered as a chaperone.  first the kids enjoyed the rides at the amusement park, then ate lunch, rehearsed, and played two songs for the judges. 

 

they ended up earning the highest rating possible from ALL 3 judges: superior or 1st division. the judges also awarded them the best band of the day!



art show

once again this year, big sister made it into the district art show.  we are so very proud.  :-)

big sister is sporting a new favorite hoodie.  she wears one daily....so it's good to have another to add into the mix.

association night

daddy and little sister braved the lingering winter temps tonight to join teammates to watch the fc dallas soccer match. 

 little sister even made it on the jumbo screen!
