happy halloween!

big sister has been planning for a few weeks her group costume at work.  she was quick to volunteer to work a morning shift before classes, dressed as princess fiona from shrek.  very believable!

after class, she came home and prepared to pass out candy - as wednesday adams....

little sister spent the evening at k's house, eating candy and watching movies.  

they dressed alike at school, and then got into "costumes?" again later.

today was the last full band performance of this year's show "what's the buzzz?"

finishing 25 out of 31 was not the outcome we desired, but everyone put in so much hard work and bettered the show all season.  we are especially proud of little sister and the great friends she has made within the band.

finally, a free saturday without a band competition!!  after refereeing 5 games, little sister got all dolled up to spend the evening with percussion friends to celebrate homecoming.  so pretty!!  despite double-digit wind gusts, the photos we took in front of our house turned out perfectly.

first, they made the mums last week.

then, they showed off the mums today at school.

last, they wore them to tonight's football game, but only while in the stands - not while performing.

right before halftime started, little sister was announced as band's junior of the week.

the football team lost 46-55, taking their record to 1-8.

homecoming parade

it was chilly for a nice change tonight at the annual homecoming parade.  and for the first time since 2013 - big sister was able to watch the parade from the sidewalk with me - ahh, such a bittersweet milestone...... she's been a part of the parade for as long as i can remember.....

this year it was little sister that we were there to see - playing her cowbell.

once everyone made it into the stadium, the homecoming court nominees were announced, the cheerleaders cheered, and the band played a few songs.

after a quick morning rain, the weather cleared up enough to make our annual trip to the local pumpkin patch.
