back to school

lunches packed?  check.

new clothes & shoes? check.

fresh haircut? check.

yep - i think they are ready for a brand new year.  watch out, fellow 1st & 3rd graders!!!

meet the teacher night

not only did we get to meet our new teachers and visit with old teachers and friends, we got to drop off all our new supplies!  it was quite a load!  all the grade levels moved around locations, and grades 1-2-3 are now in the same hallway.  big sister's classroom landed where little's sister's was last year.  and we learned that the girls' classes just so happen to be "book buddies" this year.

not sure exactly what that means yet, but we are soon to find out.

the most important thing is that the girls are excited and looking forward to a great year!

and so it begins

...another season of soccer...

we signed up both girls for the fall season of soccer.  big sister had her first practice with her new team, the tigers.  there are 11 girls on the team, with 6 players + goalie on the field at a time.  the first game is september 8th - so there will be lots of practice between now and then.  and we are pretty thankful that the weather is in the 90s right now, instead of 100+!!

the girls found a simple way to entertain themselves in grandma's backyard last weekend...and just so you know, no one was harmed in the making of these videos!

can you imagine the fun they'd have if we are ever there during ice & snow? :-)

off to oklahoma

from what i hear, the girls had a great few days with grandpa and grandma in oklahoma, and they are eager to do it again!  their first stop on the way thursday - the toy and action figure museum in pauls valley.

 we took the girls shopping before the trip so they could spend some birthday money on a toy of their choice.  they both chose "lego friends" building sets, but the catch was that they had to wait until they got to grandma's to build them.  this took a few hours...but the "heart lake dog show" and "olivia's house" soon came to life. 

 friday was a birthday lunch party at grandpa's work before heading to the museum of osteology.

just before daddy & i arrived on saturday, they took advantage of an unseasonably cool-er morning by going to the park and playing with their new rocket.  we will definitely plan a longer trip for next summer, but this was a good test to see how they would do.  i think as long as they have each other, they will do fine.

the new obsession

 the girls both wanted to spend birthday money on legos.  so that is what we did, and they have been playing with several sets of them all weekend.  it's about 80% teamwork, and 20% fighting - which isn't really too bad if you think about it.

wonder how long this will last...
