fall carnival

 it's been raining all weekend, but luckily the gloomy weather ended just in time for us to enjoy today's annual fall carnival.  i was somewhat concerned because of the non-refundable tickets we had bought earlier in the week - just like we always do - but then it seems like this rainy weather popped up from out of nowhere. (or maybe i just wasn't paying attention...)  so when the blue sky started to peek out around lunchtime, we all felt happy and relieved!  i think little sister would have stayed the entire 5 hours if we had let her, but big sister was kinda bored after the first 30 minutes.  we tried to find a balance, but in the end a bribe of cotton candy convinced big sister to try out a few more rides and distracted little sister from being bummed about leaving. 

MVP

little sister was named the MVP for her game tonight.  she got to bring home a goody bag filled with small trinkets, candy, and the all-important gold medal!  she really played well, in spite of the setting sun and the swarms of bugs everywhere on the field.  she had a great corner kick that found its way to a teammate that was able to then score a goal.  and she almost got a goal herself on a breakaway run the length of the field.  although the team is the opposite of "undefeated" - the girls are all having a blast. 

double header

both girls had games today.  little sister's was in the morning.  there was the lovely chill of fall in the air, grey skies and a slight breeze from the north.  refreshing indeed!

 

big sister played goalie and did really well.  they played a tough team but were able to come together on defense when it counted.

with perfect 72 degree weather, both girls had a great first game.
