concert time

little sister has been rehearsing almost all this semester for tonight's percussion concert.  usually in person, this year we had only the opportunity to watch a live-stream of the event.  the school made a professional recording as well and it turned out great.

she had to get all dressed up in black - slacks, belt, long-sleeve button down.....a real cutie!  and it was all so easy to get everything online (a win for this mom!)

little sister had parts in three of the four songs they played.

the girls sat for band portraits back in december – and here they are!

i am so pleased whenever these minor milestones still occur amid the pandemic.  little things like this were part of the normal hustle and bustle of pre-pandemic events, so it is nice to see a little bit of normalcy returning. i was somewhat disappointed when i heard that they did not get to wear the band uniform for these pictures, but they did get to show off their new band t-shirts for an updated look that looks nice as well.

 i took pics of the front yard walkway thru the front door speakeasy window as we got more and more snow this week.  it really shows the progression of the snow accumulation, and then its glorious exit.  bye bye, snow!

 i kept seeing this meme on social medial:

so i decided to have the girls recreate it.  little sister was not too excited and didn’t understand why i was making her do this……but by the end she was smiling, laughing, and asking me to send her a copy of the pics i took….

afterwards, they walked thru the snow in their flip flops.....snow between your toes is not quite the same as sand....lol!

it's meeelllting

i had hopes today that the girls would want to build a snowman....but i could only get snow angels out of them....

anything that melted yesterday in the warm sunshine refroze overnight - which explains why the trampoline had a sheet of ice on it.  little sister soon made ice chunks and had fun trying to jump with the frozen interference. big sister stayed firmly on the ground and just played with the chunks.

we sure are looking forward to some more "normal" weather soon!

welcome back, mr. sun

we are still not above freezing, but seeing a bright warm sun in a blue sky is really lifting my spirits.

it is still incomprehensible how cold it has been for this extended timeframe.

snow: day 4

okay, this is getting old – all this white stuff and being forced to stay home due to road conditions.  we are not built for this in our area.  i am still stressed at the thought of losing power at any moment.  the pipes along the exterior wall of our master bath have frozen, including the tub, 2 sinks, and the toilet.  we have been taking turns showering in different bathrooms just to keep the water flowing all around the house.

the winter weather is holding steady at impossibly cold....

so we try to make the best of it indoors.
