summer road trip 2024 - day 1

 

vacation starts now!  we took off this afternoon on our week-long trip to check six more states off our 50-state bucket list.  we enjoyed our nonstop flight all the way to boston.

it was a humid & rainy 73 degrees when we landed. after retrieving the luggage, we made our way to the rental car counter, picked up our minivan, and then drove a little north to our hotel for the night.

this set of 2 dozen came from a referral.  the cookies came out super shiny yet were so very simple.  sometimes less IS more. :-)

a lifetime of butterflies cookies

after being contacted on social media for an order for wedding cookies for july, the bride reached out to me again with interest in cookies for her bridal shower.  of course, after all of the graduation cookies lately, any new theme was a welcome project!!  she gave me the theme of butterflies and a photo of the balloon arch she was using to match colors, and the rest was up to me!

thank you cookies

100% stencil work on this set of 2 dozen coworker thank you cookies.  i made half with chocolate dough and the other half with regular vanilla dough.  they turned out pretty cool.

color guard cookies

 

i was given free reign to design this set for the color guard squad's team bonding pool party.  i decided to branch out from the typical school colors that i used last summer on a similar order and instead go with fun bright colors.  the butterfly was a fun addition that i think made the set pop.

happy 80th cookies

a fun set of 2.5 dozen for one of my best customers.

i already had this "happy birthday" stencil, so i was sure to pick a cookie shape/size that matched it.

i was able to use icing transfers of the "8" and "0", which helped this design come together quickly.

i was semi-successful making the balloon arch out of one big icing transfer.  only a few stayed whole, but the rest i was able to piece together to complete the look.
