working girl

another saturday....another chance to referee.  little sister was assigned 2 games this morning, both U5, and once again it was cold & wet.  but, even though is was misting, the games went on and she's banked 2 more games into her account.  if only we knew when payday was.....

track & field

little sister participated in her first track meet today.  it was cold and windy, but at least the sun was out.

her first event at 5pm was the 300 hurdles.  there were a lot of girls stumbling and falling over the hurdles, but thankfully, little sister was not one of them.  she did her best, and came in 2nd place (behind her friend & teammate, kiwi)!!

 

next, she had to wait until almost the end of the meet, at 7pm, and competed in the 1600.  (for anyone who doesn't know, that is 1 mile!)  she finished 4th in that race.  it was a long, cold meet, but she (& many of her teammates) did a great job!

 

an evening of percussion

little sister played in two pieces tonight at the combination middle school/high school percussion concert.

  

first, she played xylophone with her symphonic band in "march of the aardvark."

later, all of the middle school students played on buckets.  it was really loud but fun to watch & hear.

back on the fields

first up today - little sister's debut as a referee!  she worked a U5 girls game (phoenix v goal diggers).  it was so cute to watch that age group play, and to watch our baby in such a mature role.  she was pretty nervous, and it was mighty cold, but we know she will improve with each game.  and earning some cash ($16 for 45 minutes) isn't too bad, either!! ;-)

 then after lunch, little sister's soccer team opened the spring season with a win in very cold, very damp weather.  they won 2-0 - so we're off to a great start!

haciendo arroz espanol

as part of big sister's spanish class, she had to create a demonstration video on a food recipe.  she chose spanish rice, and i acted as her videographer.  we took lots of video clips, then she complied them into an impressive video with voice over, music, and even credits at the end.  videos have sure come a looong way since i was making them in school!!

lady lobos v mcmath

tonight was little sister's last game for the basketball season.  she did well, scoring 6 points and giving 1 foul.  her team won 30-9, giving them an overall record of 6-1.
way to go, lady lobos!!
