happy birthday to me

today we celebrated my birthday.  a free chick-fil-a breakfast, followed by lunch out with the boss, then taco friday dinner.  little sister baked me a cake (with some supervision from me) earlier this week and decorated it herself.  i do love me some chocolate cake!  all in all, it was a good day. :-)

lady lobos v harpool

little sister's team came out with another victory tonight over their opponents, 16-9.  little sister scored another two points with a layup.  she is really having fun.  today was the last away game, so no more rushing around after work to make it to her 5:30 games.

little sister & her teammates sang to me in honor of my birthday tomorrow.  and one of her sweetest friends gave me a nice card and box of cookies - thanks, chloe! ;-)  totally not necessary but much appreciated.

lady lobos v myers

grandma pat had the privilege of attending little sister’s game tonight.  the lady lobos c team defeated the myers titans 10-4, and 2 of those 10 points were earned by our #22!  she made a lucky layup to earn those points.  she also committed 3 fouls, and grandma was so very proud!!

lady lobos v calhoun

little sister had her first basketball game of the new year tonight at an away game in denton.  she got some good playing time, didn’t make any points, but she did make 1 foul.  her games go by so quickly – so i’m glad that i am recording them so we can watch them again later.  her team also got new jerseys, so she is now #22.  the lady lobos came out with the w - 18-4.

meant to be

yesterday, daddy & i spent part of our lunch scoping out a local animal shelter for kittens.  we found 2 kitties that have sort of been growing up together in foster care: a black one named stewart & a grey & white one named fred jr.  they were in the cat room and very friendly during our quick visit.  so this morning, just for the sake of comparison, we decided to take the girls to another (larger) shelter to see what they had.  contrary to their website, they only had about 7 cats and they were mostly seniors.  with that location being a bust, we then drove across town to the shelter that daddy & i had gone to yesterday.  but stewart & fred jr. were nowhere in sight! – which was weird because we called before we drove there and they assured us that there had been no adoptions overnight.  so upon asking more specifically at the front desk, we learned that our two kitty friends had been taken to a local pet store as part of an adoption event.  (oh no!!) but the shelter worker was able to call to the store and have them set aside the kitties for us so we could go see them for ourselves.  anyhow, we were able to find our two new friends and after a little getting to know them – we adopted them our new pets.  (and they were running a special – only $40 each!) they say that stewart is about 5 months old, and fred jr. is roughly 4 months old.  so, let the next chapter of cat ownership begin!!

of course, in keeping with our letter "p" pet names theme - these lucky kitties have been given new names.  it's quite the tongue twister, too, keeping things straight!!

ringing in the new year

we traveled north to see more family for new years.  cousins got to play, we watched movies, and of course there were jigsaw puzzles.
but i think the highlight of everyone's time was the magnificent fireworks show put on by uncle kieth.  it was pretty awesome - well, that and the sparklers afterward!
