the big 5-0

 

snowed in on my 50th birthday!  didn't have that on my bingo card!!

we were warm and cozy inside, even if we were constantly hoping the power grid did not fail like it did with the winter storm of 2021.....

little sister was supposed to come home for the weekend, and she certainly could have made it just fine on thursday night or friday, but the forecast for the weekend was just too much to risk her getting stuck here.  not that i would mind, but she'd have to eventually go back and 4 hours on the interstate with all those other cars and truckers in what i could only imagine would be covered with snow and ice was too much for this mama to worry about.  so we did a family facetime call as i opened all my gifts.  

then, after we hung up and i started looking for ideas for lunch, since going out was not an option, dad brought out my really big gift - the one i have been eyeing and finally added to my list.  as soon as i saw the box, i knew immediately what it was.....

and i can't wait to start using it!! i'm expecting to be able to make larger batches of dough with less mess of flour and powdered sugar flying all over.  wish me luck!!

cookies for a coworker that is due soon with her first baby.  i recently got some new mini baby cutters so i thought this we the perfect occasion to try them out.

moving in

little sister's moving back into the sorority house.  she signed up for an early time this morning, so we packed 2 cars and drove up with her yesterday.

we stayed in one of the newest hotels in town, a real upgrade from the place we stayed once before.  we will definitely book her again next time we need to stay overnight.  

we were lucky to find street parking in front of the house, so we got to work unloading.  she's moving back into the 8-girl room she was in last semester. not exactly sure why they have to move out and in if they are assigned the same room, but here we go.

daddy and little sister assembled the new shelf unit where the girls will store snacks, detergent, etc.  it will be a nice addition to the room from last semester and hopefully keeps everyone more organized.

all moved in with snack shelving in place.  it's kinda a nice buffer for her bed space too.
