freshman orientation

big sister & i just completed her 2-day freshman orientation.  we had originally had this scheduled for later in the summer, but moved it up just to make sure we have time to get everything done like advising, class selection & registration, etc.

it's a pretty small campus that has some cool features, like these reflecting pools lined with magnolia trees.  when it is muggy, hot, and humid (as it typically is for 3 seasons in north texas) - at least there are pretty things to look at.

by the end of these 2 days, we have been disappointed to learn that the english & math basic classes that big sister needs to complete (which are prerequisites for many other classes) are not offered here and must be taken at a community college & transferred over.  it is two semesters-worth of classes, so we are exploring what taking part of them this summer would look like, i.e. the upcoming july/august session, and finishing the rest of them next summer, since all need to be completed by the end of her sophomore year.  it is frustrating for sure but just another challenge to face and navigate through.  so stay tuned!
