overnight road trip

while little sister is living it up in france, the rest of us decided to take advantage of the july fourth holiday and take a quick road trip to SA.  (originally the quick trip was to pick up my mom & bring her back to stay with us, but plans changed and we still decided to go for a visit even if it would be short.)

we managed to hit some of our favorite comfort food spots and mom taught us a new domino game she's been playing at the nearby community center. 

we had unseasonably wet weather (for july!) but didn't mind since it kept the temps cooler than normal.  although driving on the interstate in rain is no fun.....

i was in the middle of making all the graduation cookie orders - when out of the blue i get a fb message about cookies for a bachelor/bachelorette weekend.  what a breath of fresh air to think about something other than cap n gown cookies!! after dissecting the inspo pics sent to me and browsing around for other ideas, here is the set i came up with.  (3 dozen)

happy daddy's day a few days late....

we had to wait for a weekend morning when we could all enjoy the traditional pancake cake. fluffy homemade pancakes with layers of scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns, topped off with strawberries and whipped cream.  yes, please!!

such a cute set - i am very proud of the way the red came out and was not oversaturated. some of the shapes are bigger than i usually use but they sure did combine to make an adorable set.

oh, waitress.....

little sister is trying out a new gig this summer: waiting tables and earning tips.  we went for dinner tonight and enjoyed the friendly service.

she talked us into dessert....then whisked them away to the back room so she and her coworkers could snack on them between helping their tables.
