it seems like we just had senior sunrise, on the first day of school back in august - and now it is already time for senior sunset: the last real day of classes....jpg)
during covid, our district started the tradition of showing the graduation slide show (all of the graduate's yearbook images in alphabetical order) on the video scoreboard at the stadium, and affectionately termed it "senior sunday" - the final sunday before graduation. this was a way to display the grads in an open area that allowed for social distancing and recognition sine they were not going to be allowed a traditional formal ceremony on graduation day. when i heard they were continuing the tradition and displaying the slide show this afternoon between 5-8pm, i really wanted to go see it and take a photo of my grad with her slide.
well, big sister's film class was responsible for building the slide show, so after a week of working on nothing but that, big sister did not really share my desire or enthusiasm to capture this moment. and the more i tried to accept her argument that is was not a big deal, the more i really wanted to get that photo!!! so, after some waivering, we drove over the the stadium and expected to have to wait a bit for her name & photo to scroll thru. well, as soon as we pulled up, i realized the show was on "N" which meant we were next!! unable to set up the best shot, i quickly just took a photo as soon as her photo popped up for the 3 seconds.
naaa. she promised to take a pic with her slide next time she went to film class, so that is what she did. it may not be the moment i wanted to capture, but it is a moment that no one else got so it is pretty special nonetheless. love my girl!!
