triple header

game #1 of the day: 10am: fusion v sweet feet.  fusion wins 3-1.  it was a fairly even match up - great game to watch!

<quick gear change> 

game #2: 12 noon: csm v vipers.  our 12u-aged team has decided to play up and they are now in the 14u bracket.  they opened the season with an awesome win in 2 sets.  (25-17; 27-25)

game #3: 2pm: csm v attack it.  although they gave a good effort and kept the score close, csm couldn't pull out another win.  they lost in 2 sets (22-25; 22-25).

girls' night

little sister was invited this evening to go out to dinner with a friend and her family to celebrate her birthday.  she left wearing play clothes, nothing special.  she came home all fancied up.  apparently her friend had received tons of new clothes for her birthday, so they decided to dress up and go out in style.

they look way more like teens here than just 11 & 12 year olds!!

fusion v titans

another saturday...another soccer game.  little sister scored a goal again, helping her team come out victorious 7-2 over the titans.  it was a humid and sunny game - but that is springtime for ya!

tonight we had a 6pm makeup game from a previously rained-out date.  it was a nice evening to watch some soccer.  little sister even scored a goal and fusion took home the victory 7-1.

day 7 - our last day

since today was a bonus holiday from school (teacher workday) – we took advantage of one more adventure.  after breakfast, we checked out of our hotel and headed downtown one last time.   

 we were lucky to find street parking near our destination: the space needle.

being under construction for renovations, it’s not the best backdrop for cool photos, but we still enjoyed our visit. 

  we got tickets for 10:30AM, and roamed around the gift shop until it was our tour time.  the ride up in the elevator generated excitement for what were about to see, but we were disappointed once on the observation level.  about 75% of the level was closed off due to construction.  you could see some of the new floor-to-ceiling glass that had already been installed as part of the renovation, and there was still an area where you could go outside and see the view.  if i had done a little research, i probably would have known to expect construction, but we probably still would have gone on the tour anyway.

 we headed to the sea-tac airport to wait for our 3pm flight.  we got there with time to spare, grabbed mcdonald’s for lunch (not many choices) and waited for our non-stop flight back home.  we landed around 8:30pm, and by the time we got our luggage, caught a ride to our car, drove home, showered, and semi-unpacked – it was about 10:30pm when we crawled into bed.  but it was nice to be home, even if it meant back to school and work bright and early the next morning.

day 6

today we headed to pike’s place market garage – then explored the piers before the aquarium opened.

the aquarium was crowded with many younger children.  it was still chilly in the high 40s, but being mostly indoor helped.  

 we ventured back to pike’s place and slowly navigated the crowds for a bit – but this really wasn’t our scene. 

 i started looking on my map ap for nearby attractions.  we walked thru the original starbucks at 1^st & pike.  we were able to easily get a table for lunch at hard rock, so we enjoyed a leisurely lunch. 

we walked back to the car, and decided to explore chinatown a bit.  after finding parking, we explored uwajimaya asian supermarket.

then we headed back to the hotel, where the girls went swimming again.  then we got a light dinner at subway, which we ate back in our room.
