practice makes perfect

 

tonight big sister had her pre-UIL concert and sight reading practice.  they have been preparing for the real competition for weeks now.  her symphonic band has come a long way.

last, they were given a piece to sight read.  after a specified time of coaching by their band director, they had to play the piece of music all together for the first time ever.  i was truly impressed with the director's leadership and the students' ability to follow his instructions.

fusion v magic, csm v dynamites

game 4 of soccer + game 1 of volleyball = one action-packed saturday.

first up - the girls took the victory 4-1 at their soccer game.  

then they won in 2 sets at volleyball.  nice to see they can switch sports so easily and keep that team bond growing stronger with every game.

  on today's agenda, we had our last planned activity for the week...painting with a twist.  grandma joined us and we worked for a couple of hours on our masterpieces.  i think they all turned out super cute and unique to each person.  very fun idea!!

in the kitchen...again

we had lots to do in the kitchen today.  first, we baked a white cake that would be transformed into our annual bunny cake...a little early for easter but still fun.  i pulled aside enough batter to make 4 cupcakes - because little sister had an idea for a project of her own...

she wanted to make sliders.

no wait!  - these are dessert imposters!!  (yes, we watch lots of kid's baking championship!)

cupcake bun, brownie meat patty, melted marshmallow dyed yellow for cheese, coconut dyed green for lettuce, and twizzlers diced to look like tomatoes.  we fooled uncle c!! ;-)

once grandma came over, it was time to tackle the bunny cake.

for dinner, the kids tried to make their pizza.  after a few technical difficulties, we got it to work and it sure was delicious!

birthday evening

we finally got to help aunt g celebrate her birthday in person this year, for a change....first dinner out at the restaurant of her choice, then back home for some homemade white-chocolate-raspberry cheesecake.  yum!
