a rare sunday afternoon soccer game, and boy, was it hot!!  they played a tough team, but the **sparkles*** pulled out a win, 2-1, and little sister even scored a goal.

the fall season is in full swing.....

HOCO 2015

 

of course, big sister was happy to wear her mum & cheer bow to school.

there was a lot of work leading up to tonight's homecoming parade.  daddy handled the structural components of the design - a cage built to fit into this year's circus theme.  the girls helped paint the structure red.  we had a float-decorating party at our house on sunday where big sister's squad came over to help ready things like balloons & signs.  i purchased candy for the squad to throw out during the parade.  little sister's soccer team decided to enter a float also, so that meant more candy, and one more person to get to where she needed to be on parade day.  once the parade started, i was happy to sit along the side of the street and watch all of the magic unfold.

we headed to the parade area around 4pm.  we had to tie the balloons onto the float, add the skirting & signs, and wait for the rest of the squad to arrive.  luckily, another soccer mom picked up little sister from us and took her to her teammates.

little sister's float ended up winning 2nd place in the rec sports division.  her float had both the girls and boys teams that is coached by the same husband-wife team.  i made her a crazy clown bow-tie from the leftover skirting from big sister's float.

autumnfest 2015

i always look forward to autumnfest and the carnival that comes to town.  the girls enjoy the rides, and there is the hope that the weather is starting to turn cooler.  not today.  a mild breeze and overcast skies saved us a bit, but it was still really humid.  we barely got our money's worth with the unlimited rides armband for big sister, but little sister would've stayed till they closed if we had let her.

 thanks to an awesome rain shower, 2 of our 4 games today (cheer & soccer) got rained out.  big sister and i were on our way to her game when we got the call, so we headed to lunch instead.

the other 2 games were indoors, so no need to cancel.  the **sparkles*** soccer girls have taken up a new sport - "just for fun" - called volleyball!!  they are calling themselves the "crazy soccer monkeys!"  their first game today was a double-header, and they held their own rather well for a team of newbies.  but they lost in the end of both matches, 0-2.

fall season openers

first up today was little sister's soccer game at 1:30pm.  her team crushed their opponent with an 8-1 victory - with 1 of those goals belonging to little sister!  hooray for the **sparkles***!!

i missed her game because we had to be at big sister's first cheer game at 1:45pm.  the girls were very pumped for the game.  they had fun doing their halftime dance.  they even overcame being rattled a bit after one of their stunt groups dropped one of their flyers.  i'm sure they will get a nice lecture at practice next week about stunting & safety, but overall it was a good first game.

association night

big sister's first real cheering event was tonight, at the high school varsity football game.  her squad got to cheer during the 3rd quarter.  it was a long night, starting at 5:30pm and ending around 9:00pm, but all the girls had a really fun time.  and the weather is starting to cool off a bit, so being a spectator was not so bad, either. :-)
