staar day

big sister came home with a list of instructions to prep her for this week's staar testing.  (today is math, tomorrow is reading)

and i think we will easily manage to do most of the items...

get some fresh air: the girls rode bikes & scooters after school yesterday and for a few minutes this morning

eat a good dinner

don't watch TV

take a good shower

go to bed early

wake up and eat a good breakfast (something with protein, not sugar):

daddy made her an egg & cheese taco, which she ate most of.  she is really looking forward to friday when all of the third grade teachers cook pancakes for the students.  it will be an all-day pajama party celebration.

big sister ever requested to wear a shirt with stars on it for today - luckily i found an angry bird shirt to meet this criteria... 

and i even stuck a special note into her lunchbag to let her know we were thinking about her.  good luck, big sister!

i am just excited that she has ZERO homework this week - not even reading minutes!

i am the earth and the earth is me.
each blade of grass, each honey tree,
each bit of mud, and stick and stone
is blood and muscle, skin and bone.

those tricky vowel sounds

on the way to school this morning, big sister asked me if aunt gina was blond.  I said “yes, she is.”  she said, “no, she is not blond.”  of course, i corrected her and explained that people with yellow hair are blond, and aunt gina has yellow hair.  she thought for a second, then said, “but aunt gina can see.  she is not blond.”  then it clicked with me.  big sister thought she was saying blind, not blond.  so i did my best to explain the difference between blind & blond.  thankfully, it is so much less confusing to be a brunette!

even though we are more than midway through the spring season, this morning was the first time both girls had games in the same place, around the same time.  it has been a juggling act for sure getting each of them to their own games & separate practices.  i wonder how they would do if they were on the same team together.....it sure would make my life easier!
