1 dozen cookies for another college-bound senior!

tonight, little sister received her end of the year awards.  she earned:

-a LEAD medal for 95 or higher grade average all year

-national honor society stole

-life-ready cord

-college-ready cord

we are so very proud!!

now just to wait a few more days for the big day!!

spring concert

the last spring band concert!!

is it just me or can you also see the sadness in their eyes that this is the end of an era??

our musician came out after the concert to say hello and commemorate the event one last time. her cheering fans took up almost a full row!

one last hurrah for these band besties!

the seniors were given their gifts - embroidered blankets, with cookie name tags made by me.

the slide show was running during dinner, with slides about each senior (created by me).

the band director talked about each senior, recalling a favorite memory of each of them.

i thought that was very special.

scholarship recipients were announced, and little sister received a one-time award of $500!  she was so shocked to win.

we will miss you, class of 2024!!

the night ended with music, dancing, and photo booth shenanigans.

we couldn't end the night without getting a special photo with little sister's band director, a teacher that has been with her since sixth grade and who has watched her grow into the percussionist she is today.  many thanks for all the memories.

texas tech cookies

 

one of my favorite people to work with at my previous job contacted me out of the blue with the news that her son was graduating from tech and she need celebratory cookies.  i remember when this little guy was born, so of course i was excited to make them for him!  she gave me free range for the design, with the only request being to stay away from the normal cap n gown shapes.

this double t has gotta be one of the harder logos i've attempted.  silkscreen stencils are such  a blessing (when they work) !!

i threw in the cowboy boot shape just because i had the cutter and it seemed to fit the theme, and i think she said it suits him perfectly!

grad cookies

the request was for 1 dozen for a local high school grad who loves basketball and is headed to college.  that's alot to put into just 12 cookies!!

anniversary cookies

i got a specific request for theme and color on this set.  she wanted lavender and eucalyptus, and it was my first delve into a fully floral cookie.

i repeated the "love" on a heart cookie since it was so successful last time.

a simple rectangle was the easy part on this one with the champagne glasses.  i ended up making icing transfers from the glasses and then splattering it with silver once the base icing dried.

this one was simple, until i realized i had to make three "9s" identical....

i did a stencil on the base layer for texture, then painted everything silver before writing the words.

this cookie is a tried and true shape so i kept the wording simple.

i saved the floral for last - and was super stressed to start them, but really like how they turned out.
