day 2

 today's adventure was riding the train up to the top of pike's peak.

we purchased front row seats (an upgrade) for the three cousins to enjoy as we climbed from elevation 6,320 to 14,115 feet, a 9-mile ride.

at the top, it was breathtaking - and way colder than when we first started at the lower elevation.

my mom did not fare so well with the altitude change.  she spent most of the ride back down feeling faint and extremely out of breath.  by the time we got back to manitou springs and back to the resort, she had recovered and was feeling much better.  that altitude is no joke!!

spring break - day 1

we headed off to colorado springs on our 6:00am flight for a quick spring break getaway with my mom and sister's family.

we arrived prior to being able to check in, so we hung out at the resort's main building - taking in the scenery and cooler, sunny weather.

hello, pike's peak!

after checking into our casita and getting settled, we headed back to the resort's restaurant for a casual dinner.  the stunning mountain views did not disappoint.

senior night soccer game

 

i started on the display board early, but the senior night game still came way too soon!

that wind was soooooo cold!!

that video had us all blubbering and ugly crying!

then the game started - with an all senior starting lineup!

the girls easily pulled out a 6-1 win at home for their very last home game.

i got an order for a dozen senior night cheer cookies, referred to me by someone that i made graduation cookies for last may.  felt pretty cool to get a referral!!

tonight was teacher appreciation night at the game and little sister chose to recognize the teacher she has been lucky enough to have for the past 7 years for percussion class.  they came out onto the field together and stood for the national anthem.

little sister only played during the first half, and her teacher stayed there in the stand to watch.  the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
