the girls travelled to their game tonight and came up short with a 0-2 loss.  but it was a beautiful night in the high 60s to watch & play.

little sister did not play at all until the 2nd half.

the refs were not calling hardly anything - yet shortly after little sister went in, they called a handball on her.  really an elbow-in-the-wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time-ball, but it was really of no consequence as it was near the opponent's goal.

basketball cookies

 i got an order for "last game of the season" basketballs - only 11 of them - on monday and i was able to turn them around in just a few short days.  i think they turned out really great!

i used a fan near the wet cookies to help dry the icing, a tip i've heard helps keep the icing shiny.  it also helped me speed up the waiting process between the base layer and detail piping.  i think i must use a fan from now on....

*snow*day*

we found out on wednesday that school was cancelled for the rest of the week in anticipation of the winter storm headed our way.  of course, we all started having flashbacks to the weather event last february that caused so much grief.  but this time we are only supposed to be below freezing for ~60 hours, more than half the time as last year.

first came the rain around 3pm wednesday, which continued as temps dropped to below freezing.  by 7pm, the rain changed to sleet/freezing rain - what really is the difference?  i just know i heard something pelting softly against my bedroom windows most of the night, which did not make for awesome sleep.  by 10am today, it had transitioned to snow.

not a lot, but it was definitely snow.

it took a little convincing, but i got the girls dressed and outside for a mini photo session with my new camera lens.  i ended up with ~150 photos but many of them had snow blurring or covering their faces.  i think it was snowing the hardest when we were out there!  so special to be able to capture these moments in time.

a cold friday night game for little sister resulted in a 2-0 win. she played midfield which kept her running back and forth between offense to defense.

i think the best shot that i captured was a header she made on a throw in by the other team, basically to knock the ball back out of bounds. the girls were trying to run down the clock to preserve their 1-0 lead.  they ended up with a 2nd goal soon after and felt they could relax a bit being up by 2.  way to go, lady lobos!!

my birthday

i woke up to cards & presents - my favorite being a new portrait camera lens.  yay!

there were more goodies at work, then lunch with daddy at my favorite spot.

that evening, little sister had an away soccer game, and big sister worked to livestream basketball game, while i enjoyed a slice of german chocolate cake.  yum!
