school's out!

the girls said so long to their freshman & junior years today.  i am so thankful they were able to attend school in person and approach a semi-normal year.

in the running

big sister came home earlier this week to tell me that she submitted her name to run for historian of band.  i knew neither girl was trying out for section leader, but i didn’t know there were other positions.  only one other girl (ailicec) was running against her, so we made an appeal to little sister to get all of her friends to vote her way.  well…..guess who won!!  as far as i can tell, her duties will include taking photos, creating the senior slideshow & video interviews for the band banquet, anything else publicity-related.  i am confident that her creativity will come in very handy in this role.

spring concert

tonight little sister was the only musician in our household playing at the spring concert, since big sister is still recovering from having her wisdom teeth removed last week.  big sister still went and dressed the part with her instrument in hand, but she never played a note!

our last game of the season was today - a make-up from a rainout.  the girls showed no mercy and won 15-1.  big sister yet again caught most of the action in photos.

another player's dad shared some highlights too.the team remained undefeated for the season.

fusion v stars

we enjoyed watched a 4-1 victory today for fusion on their home turf.

wisdom teeth

big sister started complaining of tooth pain a few weeks ago.  it looked like one of her wisdom teeth had cut through on one side and was causing pain.  so, we checked with her dentist and then consulted with a surgeon.....and today she got all four removed!  so that means ice cream, smoothies, and very soft foods for a few days.

the surgery only took about 30 minutes.  she was put under full anesthesia, and when she woke she was very confused as the meds wore off.  we are prepared to take great care of her and hope she has a speedy recovery.

summer job

 both big & little sister interviewed today for a summer job as swim instructors.  i had seen an announcement on facebook about it and encouraged each to apply.  they had a zoom interview together and were told that the last week of may would be a trial week to see how they liked it.  the job lasts may 24 through july 23 so it will not interfere with summer band.  i think it will be good to keep them a little busy this summer, help them work together, and give them a little extra spending money.
