holiday parade

tonight, big sister marched with the band in the town's holiday parade.  call time for the band was 4pm at the high school.  the kids were then bussed to the parade starting line, they marched & played along the route, then were bussed back to the high school from the parade finish.  seems like all had a holly, jolly time!!

tonight was the season opener for the 8th grade basketball season.  little sister made B team this year, so we are excited to see what she can do.  it was an exciting first game, and their first win 23-28.  no points scored by our #15, but she fouled twice, drew 1 foul, and missed 2 free throws.  we are proud of her for giving basketball a try and doing so well.

 
 

 

 

thanksgiving week

we spent the first half of our holiday week (saturday thru wednesday) in sa with my family - the girls enjoyed cousin time, pool time, and we even made it to the alamo for a quick visit.  with weather in the low 70s....it felt more like springtime.  we had an early thanksgiving meal - but who complains about too much green bean casserole??

then, we headed to houston to spend a few days (wednesday thru satruday) with daddy's side and we had yet another thanksgiving meal.  more cousin time, virtual reality play, and walking their new dog, hank.  it was nice to relax for a few days and get away from the everyday routine.  but it is always nice to go back home again, too.

cross country

today was the district cross country meet for little sister.  she has been competing in meets for the past month on wednesdays.  today, she placed 28rd overall, 3rd among the eighth grade girls competing from her school.  she has a good time hanging with her friends, riding the bus, and being cheered on by her coaches.

holiday baking

 chocolate peppermint kisses....melt-in-your-mouth sugar....and gingerbread rounds - that is what is baking up in my kitchen today....YUM! 

boo bowl

for the first time tonight, the girls played together in the high school marching band.  it's tradition for the eighth graders for come to the home game closest to halloween and participate in the "boo bowl" halftime show.  all the kids learn "thriller" and stand in a B-O-O formation and perform.  it was really cool to see, and i'm glad they were dressed in bright colors so i could spot them in the sea of kids.

first the normal band ran onto the field and created the letters B-O-O.

then the eighth graders joined them.

next they played "thriller!"

and for their final song, they played the school fight song.
