the greatest show

tonight was big sister's year-end marching band event - the band banquet.  for $45, her ticket included dinner, slide show, senior video, recognition of the board, end of year awards, scholarship presentations, presentation of slt, presentation of belle/beau, and a dance - all from 6-11pm.  she spent the day (and the night prior) with friends prepping and primping for the big event.  daddy & i volunteered to man some of the carnival games before everyone was invited to enter the banquet room.  we even dressed up a little for the circus theme. ;-)

 

another spring concert

tonight it was little sister's turn to showcase her musical talent with her band.  each of the 3 bands played 3 songs.

big sister had her spring concert tonight at 7pm.  all three of the bands played for us.  first up was symphonic band playing soaring:

then the symphonic winds went on to play 4 songs, and the wind ensemble played 4 songs as well.

working girl

little sister got in another two games today at 11am & noon in the gorgeous sunshine.  she also got paid for some of her previous games. :-)

 then she went on to finally PLAY a 3:30pm soccer game - with all the rainouts, it seems like they haven't had to play a game in forever!  unfortunately, they lost 2-1, but it wasn't because they weren't trying!!  if any of the 3 rainouts get rescheduled, they will have to face this team again and hopefully the come out with a w.

district tournament

the lady lobos took on their opponent today at 5:30pm in the first round of the three-day district tournament.  they played the team they had played earlier in the season and lost to them 4-0.  well, tonight was a much better match-up of skills, but the lady lobos still came up short with a 1-0 loss.  the referees never showed up, so they finally started the game about 20 minutes late, and coaches stood in as the referees.  they didn't make great calls, at least many not in our favor that probably could have gone either way.  but the team did well for their first season together, and then went on to enjoy cici's pizza after.

awards night

little sister was honored tonight at the seventh grade awards by receiving the LEAD award - Lobos Exemplify Academic Dedication.  they honor students whose overall grade average of all classes for the year is 95 or higher.  way to go, little sister!!

easter weekend

with a four-day weekend from school, we took advantage and drove down to san antonio for a quick easter weekend visit.  we had some extra cargo:  little sister's drumset.  she is selling it to one of cousin's friend so he can practice is percussion skills.  hope he uses it more than little sister did! ;-)

after getting in late evening saturday, we ate a delicious homemade spaghetti & alfredo dinner.  then sunday was easter, and my mom hosted us for breakfast, lunch, and the traditional easter egg hunt and making of the bunny cake.  the kids did some swimming, and then we headed back home monday morning.  it was a short trip, but nice to spend time with family.
